Home / Fund A Learner
As a non-profit organisation, The Tax Faculty’s purpose is to empower and transform people’s lives. Over the past two years, we have successfully empowered over 440 learners in collaboration with public and private partnerships to fund, source and train unemployed youth to become world-class tax professionals. Unfortunately, we currently have more than 100 learners who can no longer obtain public funding and require your pledge in order to complete their tax qualification.
I’m eager to exercise the knowledge obtained from varsity in real life situations. My goal is to grow within the field and contribute to the company growth. I aspire to become a qualified CA, tax practitioner or a financial advisor.
I started my career as a trainee accountant and was busy with my third-year articles at Deloitte when I was involved in a car accident that changed my life; I became a quadriplegic and was not able to complete my training. I always had an interest in tax since my years at Deloitte and I’m motivated to complete training after which I would like to explore tax consultancy opportunities.
I’ve always loved working with numbers which was confirmed when I was part of the Audit Experience Programme at the Auditor General (SA) during my time at university. My current studies in the tax field showed me that it is not only an intellectually rewarding career to follow, but also a respected profession in society.
It was during my volunteer work at the PNP Group as the PA to the CFO that my interest in the financial field started. I gained knowledge in general bookkeeping and accounting which taught me to pay attention to detail and work accurately. My current education enhanced my interest in tax – I enjoy understanding the tax principles in order to help clients alleviate complex tax problems.

It is my aim to work as a tax professional and help individuals and companies comply with their tax obligations. I have five-years’ experience in the cost and management accounting field. I had the chance to develop good communication and interpersonal skills when I was a class representative serving as the communication channel between students and lecturers.
Tax is an ever-changing field which is very fast-paced. This excites me because it brings continuous professional development. Tax affords me the opportunity not to be stagnant, it challenges my way of thinking and my problem-solving skills as I have to continuously come up with solutions to problems faced by clients.
I want to pursue tax because I love helping people. I enjoy solving problems and providing my clients with solutions to the many challenges that arise within taxation.
I’m a dedicated person who believes that working hard in achieving your goals will not only bring success, but also change the world. I strive for success and greater achievements and I’m open to new challenges. I work well independently and in a team. My goal is to work in an environment that promotes growth and self-development – the sky is never the limit to reach my goals.
I am a serious scholar who completed my education and training successfully while I also tutored other students and assisted lecturers with their duties.
Of all my subjects, tax was always my favourite. I enjoy my current education and training in tax as I am eager to learn more about the South African tax system; doing both theory and practical work to strengthen my analytical ability. I tutored Grade 12 learners in accounting and believe in motivating others through my hard work and achievements.
I find tax exciting and interesting because it is connected with everything I want to pursue in my career. I enjoy solving complex problems by deriving answers from a source, for example, quoting relevant sections of the taxation act and/or case laws.
I worked in the banking sector for three years before I started with my education in tax. My numerical and problem-solving skills are highly applicable in tax as well as the communication skills that I have acquired working with bank clients. My recent studies in forensic law, investigation and risks management further broaden my knowledge to pursue a successful career as a tax professional.
I want to pursue a career in tax because it is very broad and diverse – you can to work in any industry and explore different types of taxes. I have excellent self-motivation and I’m a dedicated worker. During my second year at university, I received a certificate of recognition for the third best position in auditing. I have 12-months work experience as an intern at a consulting firm.
